I purchased this bike in Portland Orgeon back in July 2004, from an old Triumph dealer, he sold the bike new back in 1974, it only travelled 2000 miles before the owner blew the motor up, under warranty they received a new motor in a crate from the English factory.
Somehow, the owner received another bike, my bike along with the new motor, sat in the corner of a large warehouse for the next 30 years.
I purchased the bike and motor, got them back home here in Australia. They sat in my shed for another 7 years before my classic bike mate, offered to fully restore it for me.
It is now in as better then new condition, 1973 750 twin Triumph Tiger. I'm not game to ride this bike and get it dirty.
Back in 1974, I tried very hard to buy one of these brand new for the going price of $1800, back then I was only earning $50 per week, there was no way that I could afford to own my dream machine.
Pictures attached.
On a side note, with my renewed interest back in these bikes, I'm now on the lookout for a similar Triumph or Bsa from the 60's or 70's for another project in my spare time on weekends for the future. If anybody knows of an old bike laying around somewhere in the country or covered up in a shed somewhere, please pass on the details and I will chase it up.
