Well I'm back in PRC again mainly to sort out the LED DMD and get the ball rolling there.

People often ask me what it is I like so much about China. It's lots of things but here is another example. On the way to my apartment this afternoon I stopped at a 7-11 store and bought the following:

      3 x beers
      2 x orange juices
      2 x 500ml Mango drinks (I love these)
      1 x 7-Up
      1 x date roll

      The lot was 40RMB - about AU$6.00

How much would you pay in Aus????

Thats what is good in America, going to the 7-11 and buying a 99c Coke or 2 20oz Buds for $3. Makes it hard to come home and pay $4.50 for a Coke at the servo.

Our freedom is being legislated away bit by bit, before we realise it will be too late. The opposite is the case here, the Chinese people are gaining more freedoms every day.

Many of us just don't see the bastards doing it to us.......and we are meekly allowing them to do it.

      Yep, true.
eg: I was talking to a customer yesterday.

The WA Govt want to tighten the hoon laws, so they can crush your car after 1 offense instead of 3 strikes. She was saying her daughter lost control of her car in the wet a few weeks ago and got 1 x strike for that.

If the changes go through, you can get your car crushed for spinning out of control.

How much does the guy behind the counter at the 7/11 earn a month? $250AU - so about $62 a week or about $1.70/hour for a standard "Aussie style" work week.

That haul would cost him half a days wages, versus our half an hours.

Not having a go, Homepin, but it all needs to be put into perspective.

I don't know why Australia is so obsessed with hoon driving. Back in the 70's and 80's it was part of growing up.
Speaking to a mate just back from Canada, he said that loud exhausts and occasional spinning of the wheels were ignored by police.

I agree with you and naturally I am well aware of staff incomes - I have employ 8 here currently.

It does show that if they can sell these goods for this kind of price here then we are being ripped off badly. Take into account that a soft drink or beer factory is almost fully automated, both in Aus and China so there is next to no labour cost involved (in the overall scheme of things).

The multinationals are ripping us blind because in China they have to meet the market to be able to sell product YET they are STILL doing very nicely thankyou.

How about a new Great Wall 2 wheel drive styleside ute with leather and air (sold here badged as a "Wingle") for AU$6500 drive away.....that's how much they cost here.

Those automated style car dispensers (carparks) are all over manhattan. Someone probably saw them in China and decided to make a killing. Always on land that is waiting for approval to develop.

China is one place I've been meaning to get to but haven't as yet, thanks for the thread Mike.

Bold statement to those who may have lost loved ones... Hoons behind the wheel with disregard for other people and damage they may cause is not a good thing. Don't hoon, no fine. Sounds pretty simple to me.
