Sounds like its a good idea, I assume this covers all the topics we talk about here.

Great idea and good on ya for kicking it off.

Wiki editing is pretty easy once you know the syntax, yell out if you need a hand.

i would like to see a series of troubleshooting/repair sections and resources for willliams 80's games, a bit like the pacman pages http://www.arcadegameover.com/pactrouble.html with a table, fault desciption, screen snapshot, possible fixes. could also add Si, and dk pages and anything lai.

lastly, looking thru some coin op mags i have on loan from necroscope, i would also like to do a "cab spotters guide" for aus manufactured cabs (lowboys, lai cabs etc)!

hope that sounds ok! will take time to compile, but the wiki is a good place to compile it!

and maybe dezbaz could do some stuff on jamma incl labels for connectors ?
and vector monitors ?

All ideas welcomed and as far as I'm concerned if we talk about it on the forums (pinball, arcade, console) it can go in the wiki.

Yep interested in adding content.

As far as structure goes all I can really think of is content that could be there.

Learning material such as beginning electronics articles.
Maybe a resources section so links to useful info can be centralized. Hell, even interstate shipping stuff could be put up there as that question seems to be asked once a week.

How to guides categorized by pinball and arcade to start off with. These categories can then be expanded to different parts of arcade and pinball machines.

Repair logs for pinball, arcade, PCB's, monitors. It would be great to see all repair lugs centralised.

What else.......I'm sure I'll think of more later.

I wouldn't just use it, i'd make it my homepage.

I would love to see a list of monitor chassis repair tips for instance here is an example For the Nanao MS8-29

Looks like sync has gone but clears after a while or after repowering, also may encounter some size issues
Change C911 C913 C442

Poor colour definition with brightness issues, sometimes intermittent
Change C332

Monitor does not power up or cuts out
There are many reasons for this, here are some that I know of:
Check the fuses first
If you get a line across the horizontal and then the chassis shuts down then there is a fault on the vertical deflection circuit

Signs of frame foldover
Change C433 R433
If full vertical frame collapse then also change R436 Q401 Q402 C437

one of the blokes at work has a set of crt repair notes (a training manual from ???) whic i am going to PDF so that can be added too!

One thing I have found to be a little lacking on the net is a decent picture library for identification of PCBs. Is this something that could be added to the wiki for people to add photos from personal collections or is it too hard to manage?

there are a few resources showing pcbs, so we could include those as well all the other stuff aa'ers have!

My only concerns in doing that would be storage space and then bandwidth. Management would also be an issue.

There is a PCB photo collection running around somewhere. It was put together to use with Mame32 and other frontends but not sure where it's at these days. Found a resource here though:

i'll happily do a bit of work on the wiki at some point, but in the near future 'other stuff' will keep me a bit too busy.
Wikis are a great invention.

Yeah time and knowledge is the bottleneck here. I'm just not knowledgeable in most of this stuff and what I do know will take some time to put together. Others need to step up and provide content on those aspects where possible.
